About
About me
Hey! I’m Nick, from the UK, and I am completing a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Digital Development.
As you live each day, so you craft your life.
— Robin Sharma
My hobbies largely consist of reading, running, cycling, programming, drawing, and some swimming. I sometimes do photography and have quite a large portfolio of pictures on Instagram (@n.w._pictures). I keep my drawing Instagram account updated with scans of my latest drawings, and usually delete older drawings. You can check out my latest ones by following @nick_._art.
One more creative hobby of mine is occasional music production. I use Ableton Live 10 Standard as my DAW and publish tracks on the music platforms as Glostrode (Spotify artist page).
I’m currently reading The 5AM Club by Robin Sharma, The Art of Resilience by Ross Edgley and Good Vibes Good Life by Vex King.
Of course I may play a game now and then. I occasionally play Minecraft on my whitelisted server.
If you wish to contact me in the gaming world, you can add me on Discord as @Glo-strode#0001. My Steam username is CITNALENCIAGA, and my Minecraft IGN is the one and only Glostrode.
I do not game a lot for the sake of my health, wellbeing, lifespan and productivity. I like this quote:
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.
— Dale Carnegie
These are a few significant recent programming challenges that I completed (and were my own ideas):
These have been arranged in order of difficulty (with the hardest at the top).
- NSystem Minecraft plugin (Java. MySQL included)
- PersonalPVP Minecraft plugin (Java)
- Naughts and Crosses (C#)
- My own discord bot (JS)
- SocketServer (Java) - A socket-based chat server and client
Here are some of my favourites that I have developed:
- Mydea (Python)
- “N.OS” (Java)
- A discord bot that teaches Italian
- SQLTemplate (Java, for an MC plugin)
I’ve known of programming since the age of ~10 (starting with Scratch and Python).
